5 Specialised Services That'll Have You Killing It as A Virtual Assistant

As people become more and more aware of Virtual Assistants and the many incredible business-boosting benefits they bring, you might find yourself looking for a competitive ‘edge’.

Something that helps your VA biz stand out from the crowd… How about offering a specialised service?

While all Virtual Assistants need to have the essential admin functions covered, to really cut through and get your VA biz at the top of the game you should consider a specialised service offering.

I’m talking graphic design, social media management, copywriting, bookkeeping, photography, event management, legal admin, the list goes on!

If you’re a VA looking to get booked out, read on because I have come up with five very cool, very niche, specialised services you might want to consider learning so you can catapult your business forward.

I know it sounds counter-intuitive to offer fewer services but trust me when I say that you'll become sought after and highly profitable. You can charge more, stand out above all others and by systemising the delivery of your service you can consistently produce quality outputs.

1. ONLINE COURSE SALES FUNNEL CREATION

If you’ve never heard of an online sales funnel, you’re not alone, but we can guarantee you’re in an online sales funnel almost every day! An 'online sales funnel' is simply the path website visitors take on the way to buying a product or service. The key is learning how to optimise sales funnels to encourage more people to buy. Thankfully there's a tonne of fantastic free info online for you to read, digest, and practice to build up your sales funnel optimisation expertise.

To really kick things up a notch and offer a genuinely specialised service, why not combine your newly acquired sales funnel knowledge with an additional specialised skill, for example, creating an online course! That way, you can build a rather powerful marketing service for a very niche, but huge, market of online course creators.

Once you’ve made the creation of online funnels and courses your specialty, including learning everything you can about one of the most popular tools (Kajabi, Clickfunnels, Teachable), I suggest you join that tool's official user Facebook group to find clients. There are always people in the groups looking for someone to help them set up their funnel and course.

2. CRM SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION

CRM systems (Customer Relationship Management Systems) are hugely complex and therefore overwhelming to many business owners; use this fact to your benefit!

While most business owners understand the function and importance of having a robust CRM system in place, they’re often time-poor and struggle with the initial set up, so end up quickly raising the white flag to ask for assistance.

They’re looking for someone to swoop in and save them from the headache, so let that someone be you!

Almost all CRM systems have countless online tutorial videos, so let these videos be your teachers and start learning everything you can to become known as the VA expert on your CRM tool/s of choice.

Often the people who work for the CRM systems (Ontraport, Zoho, Salesforce, etc.) love having a pool of external experts they can recommend to their users (your potential clients) because it means they are much more likely to keep using the tool and therefore paying for it!

Again, to scoop these clients, I suggest joining the Facebook groups where the CRM users hang out and show your expertise and value by helping the members with their queries.

You'll quickly see the requests to use your specialised services come rolling in!

3. VIDEO EDITING AND OPTIMISED POSTING

If you didn’t already know, video is the king of content right now!

Many business owners would love to create video content, but they lack the knowledge and time to make it happen.

Lucky for you, this exceptional, in-demand skill is one you can learn quickly, then offer to your clients!

From editing their video content and helping them with intros/outros and captions using rev.com, through to advising them on how to set up a quick mini studio right at their desk (with a tripod, their smartphone, and a ring light), there are many directions you can take this specialist skill.

Learn how to create micro-content pieces from one longer video, and they'll love you for making their whole month's content out of a few simple videos!

Video editing and optimised posting is a highly sought-after service that you certainly won’t regret adding to your skill arsenal.

4. SYSTEMISING BUSINESSES

It probably comes as no surprise that the most sellable businesses are those where the systems are set up, working well, and most importantly, clearly documented.

A purchaser is willing to pay a much higher price if the business is well systemised compared to a company that is all over the place with knowledge trapped inside the heads of its employees… With that in mind, why not specialise in systemising?

Once you get the hang of it, business systemisation is a highly repeatable service offering that yields excellent returns.

As a place to start, I suggest getting to grips with tools such as ‘Loom’ for videoing processes, ‘Google Sites’ for holding all the systems in a tidy and searchable way, ‘Teamwork’ for templating methods with tasks lists, ‘Zapier’ for automation, and ‘Lucid Charts’ for mapping out the systems in flowcharts.

Being well versed with systemising business processes is an extremely valuable skill set and something every smart business owner wants but doesn't know where to start to get things moving.

Create a business systematisation (and ongoing maintenance) service package and watch your client interest skyrocket!

5. AUTOMATION

If productivity were a car, automation would be in the driver's seat.

Everyone wants to be able to do more in less time, and automation is the trick to getting things done on autopilot.

Clever tools like ‘Zapier’ enable you can set up automation between a vast number of tools and apps, meaning many of the manual tasks being done in businesses can now be automated.

Automation frees up team members and enables them to undertake higher-value tasks, so it is a very handy skill you’ll want to add to your VA toolbox.

If you can become an expert in Zapier, the payback for your clients on their investment in your time is massive. (This fact is a great selling point to advertise when offering your automation services to potential clients!)

There we have it, that’s my list of five of the best.

Do you have a specialist skill to offer your clients?

I'd love to hear about your specialist skillset! If you're looking to expand on your VA knowledge base, which one of these five VA specialities are you most interested in trying?

Have questions or comments about any of the specialties I have mentioned in this blog? Please get in touch, as I'm always happy to point you in the right direction.

 Good luck out there!
